Interested in joining KSO?
If you are interested in joining the K Street Orchestra here are the main things to know.
You must provide your own instrument and music stand. An electronic tuner and stand light are also recommended.
You must be able to read music and have a basic understanding of how to play your instrument. Music theory and technique are taught and reviewed but having a base knowledge is necessary. You should be able to identify sharps and flats and be able to play at least C, G and D major 1 octave scales. Level of playing for all instruments should be at least around Suzuki book 2 or comparable.
There is a fee of $200 for each three month period starting the beginning of each season which is mid-September.
Rehearsals are every Wednesday from 6:30pm-8:30pm in room 10 at the Sierra2 Center for the Arts, 2791 24th street in Curtis Park. Regular attendance is a must!
We have two concerts per year, our holiday concert and our summer concert. We work slowly and methodically throughout the year to gain the confidence and skills for our big summer concert. The holiday concert is a much more casual and festive opportunity to play well known seasonal favorites for our friends and families.
This is a group of a wide range of experience and ability so if you are unsure if KSO is the orchestra for you, please reach out via the form for more information or join us for a rehearsal.
